Robert Echeverria
Founder & Head Coach
Coach Robert Echeverria brings extensive experience and leadership to LV Legends Water Polo Club, with a background that spans youth, high school, collegiate, and club water polo. He has served as a head and assistant coach at multiple levels and is currently the head coach for the men’s and women’s water polo programs at the University of La Verne, as well as a high school coach at Damien High School.
Throughout his career, Coach Echeverria has been committed to developing well-rounded athletes through disciplined training, accountability, and a strong team culture. His coaching philosophy emphasizes fundamentals, long-term athlete development, and character—preparing players not only for competitive success, but for growth as leaders in and out of the pool.
As the founder of LV Legends, Coach Echeverria is passionate about increasing access to high-level water polo in the local community while creating a positive, inclusive environment where athletes can thrive.
Alba Espinar Gomez
Assistant Coach
Coach Alba Espinar Gomez brings international playing and coaching experience to LV Legends Water Polo Club. Originally from Spain, she competed at a high level and brings a strong technical foundation and global perspective to athlete development. Her experience includes coaching and mentoring athletes across multiple age groups, with a focus on fundamentals, game awareness, and skill progression.
Coach Espinar Gomez is known for her detailed instruction, positive energy, and ability to connect with athletes. She emphasizes proper technique, tactical understanding, and confidence in the water, helping players build a strong foundation that translates to long-term success.
Her passion for teaching and player development makes her a valuable part of the LV Legends coaching staff and a strong role model for young athletes.
Relja Mitic
Assistant Coach
Coach Relja Mitic adds a high-level competitive mindset and international experience to LV Legends Water Polo Club. With a strong background as a player and coach, he brings an analytical approach to training, emphasizing positioning, decision-making, and situational awareness.
Coach Mitic is dedicated to helping athletes understand the game at a deeper level while maintaining a disciplined and supportive training environment. He values hard work, accountability, and attention to detail, pushing athletes to reach their potential while fostering confidence and resilience.
His experience and commitment to athlete development help elevate the competitive standards of the LV Legends program and support players as they progress through each stage of their water polo journey.
